All opinions are mine alone. #TeaProudly #CollectiveBiasWe all came back from our trip this past October feeling a little under the weather. Jordan, my husband is a doctor and is always reminding us that there is no way to cure the cold or flu, but that we can make it a little less annoying. We have a handful of things that we do each season to help fight off colds.
1. Elevate the head of your bed
Helps relieve pressure and sinus drainage. We stack some books underneath the top posts of the bed. This especially helps the little ones.
2. Use a Netipot (fancy word for nasal irrigation to get out all the nasty stuff!)
3. A teaspoon of honey (especially yummy in some tea)
Just a little honey to soothe your throat.
4. Cold Mist Humidifier
There is nothing worse than waking up to dry air.
5. Diffusing essential oils
I specially love eucalyptus during these months. When I get congested, I’ll put a couple drops in a hot shower. It’s incredible how well it works and it smells so lovely.
6. Start and end our day with a hot cup of Bigelow tea
And maybe a little in-between as well. The reasons we drink tea, most often the family owned tea company, Bigelow during cold and flu season is twofold.
One, it’s just cozy. When you’re sick, or when it’s cold outside there’s nothing better than relaxing with a blanket and a warm cup of tea. It helps you slow down, rest, and destress.
Two, it is the best at soothing sore throats. My husband is always bringing me a hot cup of Bigelow green tea when I’m sick. Lately I’m preferring the green tea with lemon.
I hope that this post was helpful in preparing your home for cold and flu season. It’s never fun to be sick, but these things can make it less annoying and help fight off the sickness.
Do you do these things as well? Are there any other things your family does to help fight of colds and flu during this season?
