I wrote a lengthy journal of our first night in Paris here filled with all the details. But, here are the DSLR photos and the memories I remember four months later.
We arrived in Paris in the morning. We took a red eye and managed to get ok sleep, thankfully Ruby slept through the flight, but we were definitely still tired and jet-lagged by the time we made it to our airbnb. It took us much longer than anticpated to make the trek from the airport to our flat. We settled in and took a much needed nap and woke up just in time to see the sun start to set behind the eiffel tower. This was the view from our room.
We decided it was best to skip our plans and walk to the eiffel tower for a picnic dinner. We stopped by the market by our house to grab a baguette, fromage, olives, chocolat, and rose. We also grabbed some macaroons from a patiserrie, though they weren’t very good!
We sat beneath tour eiffel and ate our delicious picnic and watched as the sunset and the sky grew dark.
When the sun set the eiffel tower began sparkling like crazy. We knew that this happened, but it definitely suprised us in the best way possible. It’s hard to describe how marvelous it really is, especially after being known as such a cliche. It’s definitely not. I will now feel totally ok buying all the eiffel tower things. It’s breathtaking. Can you see some of the lights in the photo above? I’ll post a video I have of it lighting up.
It would sparkle like this for ten minutes at the top of the hour all night until around 1. And the best thing is that we could still see it from our flat, so once got home and put Ruby to bed we’d be able to watch the show every hour.
